Interpersonal Communications Training
GreenLamp has initiated Interpersonal Skills Workshops in Nonviolent Communication with the final year students at the Hamlin College of Midwives. These are very important skills for the midwife students to take with them once they graduate and start their professional work at a rural Health Centre - empowering the midwives to act as role models for girls and women in an empathetic and caring way.
The purpose of the training is to share and practice communication skills that are useful for the midwives in everyday life at the health center. Also to strengthen their ability to reach a deeper and mutual understanding of the needs of others, which fosters respectful dialogue and cooperation with their patients and co-workers.
The first interactive workshop took place in February 2016 at the Hamlin College of Midwives and received very positive feedback. There are now plans to run workshops on an annual basis and to extend the training program to include the teaching team at the Hamlin College of Midwives.
